Our Mission
The Whitmar Homeowners Cooperative was organized for the purpose of working toward improving the Whitmar Acres Subdivision, protecting property values, and improving the overall quality of life in the subdivision.
We endeavor to contact the appropriate city or parish officials or departments to resolve any issues under their purview that we may be experiencing within our subdivision, such as potholes, street lights out, etc.
Membership and participation in the Whitmar Acres Homeowners Cooperative is strictly voluntary. The members who volunteer their time are elected to serve as board members/officers do so in an effort to work for the good of the entire community, not to the detriment of it. The laws, regulations, and codes of the City of Hammond are the only regulations in place within the subdivision. The cooperative does not make rules to govern homeowners.
As all homeowners will agree, our largest investment is our home. The cooperative, for example, will interact with the City of Hammond as a united team to resolve any violations of zoning codes, ordinances or Unified Development Code that could lower our property values or to contact the city for services, such as filling potholes, resolving drainage issues, etc.
What We Are Working On Now
-
Zoning issues with multi family units
-
Repaving of the community to address numerous potholes
-
Cleanup of the sites where the city is in the process of removing defunct water pumps
-
Working with Code Enforcement to address properties with trash/debris problems
-
Addressing non-functional streetlights with Entergy and the City of Hammond
